DESCRIPTION:We are honored to host the Third Annual Focus at the Fed: A Chamber Focus at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. \n\n\n\nThe KCK Chamber and the Wyandotte Economic Development Council are proud to present"Focus at the Fed\, Understanding WyCo Opportunity Zones\," on\n\n\n\nMonday\, Dec. 3\,\n\nfrom 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.\,\n\nat the Federal Reserve Bank\,\n\nlocated at 1 Memorial Drive in Kansas City\, Mo. \n\nDeadline to register is Nov. 23 (no registrations after this date)\n\n\n\nAbout Opportunity Zones:\n\nSix census tracts in Wyandotte County have been nominated by Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer for Opportunity Zone designation (the six here in WyCo are part of 74 throughout the state he is nominating for the economic development designation). \n\n\n\nThe Zones serve as an economic development tool approved by federal Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. They will allow residents the opportunity to invest into their communities to prevent population decline\, lack of jobs and infrastructure issues. \n\n\n\nFor the investor\, the Opportunity Zone program offers tax incentives to citizens who re-invest their unrealized capital gains into Opportunity Funds dedicated to investing in designated census tracts. The program provides deferral and reduction of capital gains taxes when the gain is invested in a Qualified Opportunity Fund and maintained for at least five years.
