How to Decrease Liability in Lawsuits of Employment Discrimination

Join the KCK Chamber and Nuby & Associates for "How to Decrease Liability in Lawsuits of Employment Discrimination." Lawyer Cecilia Brown will discuss:

• What is the law?
• How does it apply to my small business?
• What is a protected class?
• Preventive Programs and Protocols

Cecilia is a Washburn Law Alumnus and formed Cecilia Nuby & Associates in 2015, focusing in the practice of plaintiff employment discrimination, father’s custody rights, and defendant criminal cases. All which disparately affect the African American community. Cecilia Nuby & Associates served hundreds of clients with legal issues ranging from  manslaughter to supervisors hanging nooses in the employee common. Becoming aware of the overwhelming racial disparities in the American Legal System, Cecilia graciously accepted a 2 year term clerking for the Honorable Judge Thomas Newton at the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District. There, she reviewed every type of case and made it her mission to justly apply the law.

After delving into the legality of bias, Cecilia began her journey to teaching about diversity, equity and inclusion. Cecilia holds her certification in Diversity Equity and Inclusion form South Florida University. Working is a fundamental right, and everyone should be able to work in a safe and healthy environment.

Cecilia is on the board of the Jackson County Bar Association and the Genesis School. She is also the creator and producer of Up Close and Cultural, a media segment highlighting black professionals and building  trust amongst historically oppressive systems and the black and brown community.
