Mayors' Prayer Breakfast
Carol Levers, director of the Kansas City, Kan., Public Libraries, will be the featured speaker for the 38th Annual Wyandotte County Mayors' Prayer Breakfast. This is an interdenominational event.
Carol Levers, a native of South Africa, began her library career as a volunteer at the West Wyandotte Branch. Her husband Keith, and their two small children had come to Kansas in 1989 to seek political asylum. The library was close by their first apartment and she took her children there frequently. Little did she know at the time that initial experience would lead to her future career as a community leader and Director of Libraries of five public libraries and 48 school libraries in Kansas City, Kansas.
